Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, KN Byg A/S is a professional carpentry company with over 100 years of experience doing work as specialists and turnkey contractors in Denmark. It’s a family-owned business, now managed by two brothers, Kennet Nielsen and Allan Grønkvist-Nielsen. Information lost in long email threads

Before GenieBelt, workers would meet at workshops in the mornings, get their task lists and then drive to their work destinations. Communication between KN Byg, their subcontractors and the clients took place via emails. Everything from programme changes, to delays and problems, task allocations, variations, and unforeseen events were covered in emails.

“When things went into gridlock, we usually had 40-50 emails to go through in order to find out at which point in the communication things went wrong. As it happens, it was often possible to track the main problem to a one single email found in a subcontractor’s spam folder,” says Allan Grønkvist-Nielsen, Project Manager at KN Byg.

“We had a roof renovation on a building in Central Copenhagen, where rot was found during the project. GenieBelt made it easy for us to make changes to the schedule so that all parties were informed immediately. Management of our projects feels like a living organism. Get a handle on all projects

GenieBelt has been able to give KN Byg a means to keep track and maintain an overview of their many projects.

“When we have many projects taking place simultaneously, it is not always possible to pass by every day. However, with GenieBelt, we always have our finger on the pulse on all our projects and we can see exactly what is going on and where,” says Allan Grønkvist-Nielsen.

On a renovation project of 4 apartments in Hillerød covering electrical work, masonry, paint work, carpentry and floor building, KN Byg was able invite clients in to view project progress.

“We have fixed schedule templates, so it is easy and quick to create new projects. We always invite clients, so they have a complete overview of the renovation process. We also issue our invoices based on the project progress in GenieBelt as the system has a clear overview of the overall state of the project,” says Kennet Nielsen.
